Ebersberg, Germany

  • slider

In the year 2006 the district council of Ebersberg declared its will to transform the energy supply of the district located in the south east of Germany to 100% renewables by 2030. At the heart of this process are energy savings in all sectors including a significant increase of energy efficiency. The remaining energy demand will be satisfied by renewables using technologies such as photovoltaic, wind turbines and biomass for electrical supply and biogas, geothermal and solar thermal energy for heat supply.

In April 2015 the district council has decided to maintain the declared objective and continue all existing efforts to make Ebersberg independent from fossil fuels by 2030. Some of the projects already realized include photovoltaic installations and measures to increase energy efficiency for public buildings. Furthermore, a district energy cooperative has been established to help citizens and firms with the implementation of energy efficiency arrangements as well as engage in the realization of local projects.
