Report Examines Barriers in Vertical Integration of NDC Implementation
Process

Presents Recommendations for Removing Barriers

31 December 2018 – The Global 100% Renewable Energy Platform has released a report, based on community consultations and a process of extension and review, that examines the difficulties in the interaction between national, regional and local governments in implementing the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). The NDCs make up part of national commitments to climate protection within the context of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)

In addition to addressing the concerns, barriers and inefficiencies in this process as perceived by the international community, the report also presents a series of recommendations for improving the process based on a series of thematic consultations.

The initiative, funded by the German Environment Agency (UBA), forms part of the Platform’s ongoing push towards the better coordination and integration of activities across government, industry, civil society and other actors when addressing the overarching theme of achieving a global 100% renewable energy-based civilisation.
