The Platform will be contributing to a webinar of the World Future Council with the above-mentioned title. The focus is on the relationship between achieving a 100% RE goal and fulfilling the sustainable development goals (SDGs).
From the WFC:
The World Future Council is delighted to invite you to our webinar “100% RE is leaving no one behind”, on how the transition to 100%RE helps to achieve every single SDG. In the run up to the High-level Political Forum in New York in July 2018, it is vital to promote and embrace the transition to 100%RE: to achieve affordable, energy access for all, but also to eradicate poverty, mitigate climate change and to safeguard the right to lead a life in dignity for everyone. To ensure that energy can continue to play its vital role in socio-economic development whilst preserving the environment, biodiversity and ensure equal distribution of economic and political power, a radical paradigm-shift is necessary. The link between energy and development therefore inevitably becomes the link between renewable energy and sustainable development.
We are welcoming a panel of excellent speakers, and hope to have you with us on Tuesday, 26 June at 1pm GMT. We are aiming to have an interactive discussion on the national relationships between 100%RE and SDG implementation and what is needed to make this a success.
